Born in Su Zhou, China, C.C.Wong studied with several famous Chinese painters, such as Wu Hufang. He taught painting in Suzhou and at the Shanghai Academy of Art. In 1936, he became advisor to the London Exhibition Committee for selecting work from the Palace Museum Collection for a major exhibition of Chinese Art. In 1974, he was elected "benefactor" and permanent member of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, new York, USA. In 1980, he was invited to serve as consultant to the Chinese Painting Department at Sotheby's International, New York.
