---- Limited World Tour
Treasure of Chinese Painting is a selection of rare pieces from the Dai
family’s private collection of original, classic Chinese paintings and
calligraphy from the 19th and 20th centuries. The
selection includes many of China's most renowned painters of the past 100
years, including Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, and others. Also included
in the exhibit are rarely seen works by Emperor Dao Guang and the famous
Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty.
These priceless pieces range from classic traditional Chinese art to
works that show European influence.
These
Chinese artists employed a multitude of traditional brushwork forms to pay
tribute to the past but at the same time moved forward in new directions. This
Exhibition not only showcases traditional Chinese art, but also reveals the
sublimity of human expression. The selected paintings cover a wide range of
subjects, reflect history, and represent the highest level of traditional
painting.
This exhibit is all the more
precious because very few great works of art or artists survived the Chinese
Cultural Revolution. All of the paintings exhibited belong to the President of
the Australian Chinese Cultural & Art Association, Mr. Tony Dai, and his
mother, Ms. Mei-Ling Dai. The Dai family has owned and cherished this
collection of Chinese paintings for over four generations.
The reason why they are putting the family’s priceless collection on
exhibit is related to Ms. Mei-Ling Da. After she immigrated to Australia, Ms.
Dai caught a very rare disease that attacked her immune system. While
hopelessly confined to a hospital bed, she was introduced to the exercise and
meditation practice called Falun Gong and, soon after, her health turned
around. She felt like as if she were reborn. Through this experience, the Dai
family realized the unpredictability of human life and therefore the urgency of
fulfilling their wish to promote Chinese culture overseas. In the spirit of
Falun Gong’s principles of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance, they are
sharing their valuable treasures with the public.
So far, the paintings have
been displayed throughout Australia, Taiwan, South Korea and the U.S. Australian
Prime Minister John Howard said, “This exhibition is an excellent opportunity
to showcase the beauty and richness of traditional Chinese art and culture.” In
Taiwan, the Dais held more than 20 exhibitions within 7 months time. These
exhibitions were sponsored and supported by more than a thousand large
companies and the Taiwanese government.
